Personal note from the artist: "Basically I wanted to create something symbolic and knew I needed to incorporate certain animals which resonate with my path of motherhood. As a mother myself, giving birth was probably the one time in my life I felt more like an animal than human. Birth is such a primal and sacred experience that is vicious, empowering and liberating. The mama wolf came to me many times and it is a figure I have painted frequently. She is viciously protective of her young and she's a ruthless hunter. I think she reminds us that mothering evokes a love that is wild and powerful.
